Don't Forget the Veteran
This Veteran was someone’s child;
Before he went to war;
He went to ensure our freedoms;
Knowing dangers were in store.
This Veteran had a life;
Before he chose to go away;
Leaving his loved ones behind;
Although he’d rather stay.
His heart cry was for the freedoms;
Those that were fought for since time began;
So when he saw freedoms being stripped away;
He bravely took a stand.
What makes his heart so selfless;
Compassionate and true?
Some would say “Old Glory”;
The red and white and blue.
But I believe it’s that and more;
That sent him in harm’s way;
A love for God and country;
His actions did convey.
So don’t forget the Veteran;
Who has fought so valiantly;
He deserves our thanks and love;
And to be honored in memory.
God’s Son went to battle;
With grace; not a gun;
On Calvary He shed His blood;
And our salvation won.
God watch over each Veteran;
This is our fervent prayer;
May they sense Your presence;
And know Your loving care.
